Mrs. DeLeon
Math Instructor & 8th Grade Homeroom
My name is Trayce De Leon, and I grew up in the South. For the past three years, I have claimed Arizona as my home. This year is my 22nd year of teaching and my 2nd year at West Valley Christian. I earned my degree in elementary education from the College of Charleston. My sister was my inspiration for becoming a teacher. She poured countless hours into playing school and mentoring me as a child. Middle school is my passion. Sharing the love of Christ and His desire for their lives is a daily opportunity. Applying what we have learned about God to daily living is our goal. I love my middle school WARRIORS!!
Ms. West
Social Studies Instructor & 5th Grade Homeroom
Hi! My name is Danielle West, and I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. After living in the beautiful Northwest for six years, I returned to Phoenix and earned my Bachelor of Education degree from Arizona Christian University. I began teaching at West Valley Christian School in January 2017. I have known since I was a very young child that I wanted to become a teacher, and was inspired by the example of my mother, who is a teacher as well. I became a teacher because I believe students are the future and deserve the best education possible. Throughout my education, I have had excellent educators that helped develop a love of learning in my life. That love of learning is what I wish to inspire in my students. I am excited to have the opportunity to teach at West Valley Christian School and help my students build a biblical worldview.
Mrs. Molkentin
Science & Bible Instructor & 6th Grade Homeroom
Hello, my name is Jamie Molkentin, I was born and raised in Huntington Beach, California. I graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree from Long Beach State with an emphasis in child and human development. I moved to Arizona in 2012 and started working at WVCS. I have been a teacher for 16 years and counting! I teach Science and Bible to middle school classes. I have always wanted to be a teacher and work at this age level. I enjoy watching my students dive into a deeper relationship with Christ and being a part of their growth process. I love how Scripture is so quickly brought up through science lessons as we see and study the marvelous works of God through His creation. My students bring me great joy, and I love having the privilege to partner alongside their parents as we lead them closer to Christ. What a blessing!
Mr. Ratliff
7th & 8th Grade Language Arts Instructor & 7th Grade Homeroom
My name is Christopher Ratliff. I was born at Luke Air Force Base but grew up mostly in the state of Georgia. I have a B.A. in English Literature and an M.Ed. in Elementary Education, both from Grand Canyon University. I have been teaching at West Valley for seven years. I became a teacher because I love knowledge and learning, primarily as they relate to the great truths of the Christian tradition. As a teacher, it is important to me that students recognize the hand of God in history and learn to use math, English, or any other subject to serve God. I love teaching at WVCS because we get to make that emphasis.
Mrs. Wahlstrom
5 & 6th Language Arts Instructor & Assistant Principal
Growing up in a Christian School in the Phoenix area, I admired my mom who devoted her life to Christian education. In high school, I was inspired by the way my teachers encouraged me and invested themselves in working with students. After earning my Bachelor of Elementary Education degree at Friends University, I had the privilege to go back and teach in the Christian school where I grew up. Always striving to improve my teaching practice and find better ways to help students learn, I pursued and completed a Master of Education degree from Walden University. In 2011, I seized the opportunity to work at West Valley Christian School. Throughout my 16 years of teaching, the Lord has allowed me to teach grades K-5, serve teachers, and support principals in a variety of ways. My name is Jeanette Wahlstrom, and I am honored to serve the families and staff at West Valley Christian School.

Mrs. Spicer
Art Teacher
Hi, my name is Katherine Spicer. I’m an Arizona native and earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design at the University of Arizona. I have over twenty years of teaching experience including private tutoring, children's ministry, and classroom settings. My journey with WVCS began over eight years ago as a parent volunteer. For four years I observed God's Word and His Worldview being taught to the children at WVCS. Then, when I was blessed with the opportunity to take the position of Art Teacher I eagerly agreed and stepped into my new role as an official member of the WVCS staff. Now, God has brought together my love for Art and my passion for teaching His Word in a way I could have never anticipated. In my class, we focus on the beauty of God's creation and creating works of art that honor Him. I love helping the children discover how to create art that is Christ-centered. Every day, I look forward to serving God and my students at WVCS.
Mrs. Francken

Hi! My name is Michele Francken, and I was born and raised in Arizona. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Family Studies from The University of Arizona, and I have been the librarian at West Valley Christian School since 2014. I have worked in Children's Ministry for over 20 years in a variety of capacities. I have a lifetime love of literature, especially children's books, and I am privileged to be the caretaker of our library here at West Valley. My greatest joy is fitting children and the right books together.
Mrs. Gross
Music Teacher
My name is Kelsey Gross, and I grew up in South Dakota where I earned my undergraduate degree in music at South Dakota State University. My husband and I moved to Arizona so that I could earn my Master of Music in Voice Performance at Arizona State University where I am currently working on a doctoral degree. I began teaching at West Valley in 2016 and am grateful to serve in a place that seeks to honor Christ. My favorite thing about teaching is helping my students learn through games and dancing. I love to focus on developing cooperative skills in my students through small and large group activities, and I look forward to sharing my love of music with your child!
